Jill McGlaughlin was born in Frankfurt, Germany and later moved to Harrisonburg, VA, by way of Columbus, Mississippi, in 1977 when her father, Greg Versen, took a position as an Associate Professor of Social Work at James Madison University. She graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1988 and James Madison University in 1992 with a BS in Psychology. Jill married a High School friend, Chad McGlaughlin, in 1998 and they currently live in Keezletown, VA with their teenage children, Grady (16) and Marley (14), cats, Max and Ruby, and an adorable rescue pup from Mississippi, DD. Some of the things Jill really enjoys is spending time at the beach, working out early in the morning, and supporting animal rescues.
Jill opened Classic Kitchen & Bath on High Street in Harrisonburg, VA in 2001. A couple years later Chad joined the team and they built a new showroom, on Deyerle Avenue, where they have been ever since. They plan to open a new Classic Kitchen & Bath location in Wilmington, North Carolina in the spring of 2021.
Jill’s introduction to ALS was in 2006, when Chad’s father was diagnosed with the incurable disease. Seeing a need for awareness, and support for the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter, Jill and Chad hosted a fundraising event in 2007 known as “An Evening of Hope.” This Black Tie affair became an annual event with the last 9 events being hosted in their home, where she and her family invite the community to join in remembering those who have past and support those living with disease. This year’s event would have been their 14th annual event. Jill served on the Board of Directors for the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter from 2010 to 2019.
Jill’s commitment to her community is apparent by how active she stays in it. She has served as President of the Shenandoah Valley Builders Association in 2011 and 2012 and as Chairwoman of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 2014. Over the years she has served on the board of directors for, Explore More Discovery Museum, Rockingham Educational Foundation (REFI), James Madison University Duke Club and SVBA. She is an active member of the Virginia Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (VBIDA), F&M Bank Mortgage Advisory Board, and GO Virginia Region-8 Board.
